Man puts pocket knife to girlfriend’s temple; threatens to kill her and his infant daughter

25-year-old John Burcham was charged with aggravated assault after threatening to kill his 6-month-old daughter and girlfriend then driving away with the infant.

On October 26th, Memphis Policer Officers Cato and Moore responded to 1391 Madison Avenue for an aggravated assault call from Angela Kaminsky. She reported that the assault took place earlier in the day at 699 Hanley Street. Her boyfriend, John Burcham, pulled out a pocket knife and put it to her temple, she stated. He then threatened to kill her and their 6-month-old daughter, per report.

Angela said that her, John, and their 6-month-old daughter were in her 2013 Honda Accord when John began driving erratically by running stop signs and red lights. When the car came to a stop in the area of 1391 Madison Avenue, Angela fled from the car. John then drove away with their daughter. Officers then arrived at Angela’s location and called John to have him return the child. He returned and was arrested, the weapon was not recovered. She positively identified John by a photo as the person who threatened her and her daughter’s life.

John Burcham was arrested and charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $7,500 bond.
