Memphis woman slams and strangles girlfriend at Summereast Apartments

22-year-old Chynna Elder was charged with aggravated assault after she slammed her girlfriend and then strangled her during an argument to the point of unconsciousness, per report.

On June 27th, officers were dispatched to the Summereast Apartments located on 790 Bartlett Ave in regards to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, law enforcement made contact with Reveca Roman, who informed officers that she and girlfriend Chynna Elder had been involved in a verbal altercation. According to the affidavit, Elder began to continually slam doors throughout the residence. The woman’s actions prompted Roman’s request for Elder to leave. Elder responded to this by slamming Roman against the wall and strangling her, per report.

Roman proceeded in attempts of restraint, but was thrown to the ground and eventually lost consciousness. Roman reportedly could still see Elder’s actions, but could not hear anything. Roman fainted from the assault and later regained consciousness, only to find Elder still on top of her. Law enforcement observed injuries to Roman’s arms and neck that matched the statement given. Elder was transported for further question and, upon a waiver of her Miranda rights, provided an account of denial.

Chynna Elder was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. Her bond was set at $25,000.
