Thalia Yancey-Chalmers punches police officer after refusing to leave hotel

59-year-old Thalia Yancey-Chalmers assaulted a police officer at a hotel near Hickory Hill Road on April 19th. When officers arrived on the scene, they spoke with the property’s general manager, who stated that Chalmers had not paid for her room but was still in there. Officers then spoke with Chalmer’s husband, who advised that he had a place for them to stay. Despite this, Chalmer still refused to leave the hotel. Officers began speaking to Chalmers, informed her she needed to leave, and grabbed her by the arm to detain her. Chalmers then began swinging violently and punched an officer in the chest. Once the officer was struck in the chest, he reflexively punched Chalmers in the face. Chalmers was given medical attention and was taken into custody for assault on a first responder on April 20th.
