Underage DUI: Chekira Applewhite gets drunk at Echelon Night Bar and Grill before driving

19-year-old Chekira Applewhite was seen in a 2008 tan Pontiac GT driving the wrong way on Winchester Road on May 23rd. After stopping Applewhite, officers observed that her eyes were watery and that she was slurring her words. Applewhite told officers she was drinking at the Echelon Night Bar and Grill, which led to officers requesting that she perform field sobriety tests. Applewhite consented to the sobriety tests but performed poorly and was taken into custody. While in custody, officers searched Applewhite’s car and found an open bottle of Lunazul Tequila bottle under the driver’s seat. Chekira Applewhite was taken into custody and charged with underage drinking and driving, reckless driving, and possessing an open container of alcohol while in a motor vehicle.

DUI: Patrice Kilpatrick tells police she took what was “possibly Oxycodone” before causing fatal wreck

60-year-old Patrice Kilpatrick was involved in a fatal car accident near a Boston Street residence around 2:10 a.m. on May 17th. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with Kilpatrick, who stated that she had taken some medication, “possibly Oxycodone and something else” before diving. Kilpatrick added that she dropped a brown bag belonging to her friend between the two vehicles. Officers found the bag which contained pill bottles and mail that belonged to Kilpatrick. She was then prompted with sobriety tests and performed poorly. Officers discovered that she did not have a valid driver’s license or insurance for the vehicle. Kilpatrick was taken into custody for driving under the influence, not having a valid driver’s license, failure to provide financial responsibility and reckless driving.

Keyrah Hite booked on citation for reckless driving

19-year-old Keyrah Hite was driving without a license on October 6th, 2023. Hite was also observed recklessly driving and violating financial law. Law enforcement cited her for the violation, and she was booked on the citation on April 27th, 2024, but failed to appear.

DUI: Kyla Crump hits trailer connected to Ford F-250 after having two mixed drinks

On April 19th, 25-year-old Kyla Crump was taken into custody for driving under the influence near Poplar Avenue. When officers arrived, they spoke with Crump, who insisted she only had a shot of alcohol and two mixed drinks. Crump also said she was driving her vehicle before her friend, Jametris Perry, grabbed the steering wheel. She stated this caused the car to enter the emergency lane, striking a trailer connected to a Ford F-250. Officers were unable to conduct a sobriety test due to Crump having a knee injury and having asthma. Officers then requested a whiskey unit after placing Crump into custody, and her blood was drawn subsequently. Crump was taken into custody for failure to exercise due care, driving under the influence, reckless driving, public intoxication, no driver’s license, and violation of financial law.

27-year-old Antwon Morrison was charged with driving under the influence, public intoxication, reckless driving, and violation of financial law after reportedly passing out at the wheel and crashing into a guardrail after a night of drinking, per report.
