Woman sets fire to boyfriend’s clothes over him texting another female

45-year-old Nikitsha Clay was charged with domestic assault after she sprayed lighter fluid on her boyfriend and his clothes when she found out he was texting another woman.

On November 22nd, Memphis Police Officers Piantedosi and Sutton arrived at the residence of 5588 Loch Lomond Road in response to a domestic violence call. Upon arrival, David Watson advised that he got into an argument with his girlfriend, Nikitsha Clay. He stated that Clay got angry when she went through his phone and saw that he was texting another woman.

Watson reported that Clay had been drinking and that as he was trying to get his things and leave, Clay sprayed lighter fluid on him and all over his clothes. She proceeded to throw a lighter on his belongings and set them on fire, causing smoke to fill the room. Watson said he had to kick out a window in order to get out of the house without being burned. The officers then spoke to Clay, who admitted to setting Watson’s things on fire. She claimed that Watson hit her in the forehead and that there was a knot, however, officers did not see any injury to her head.

Nikitsha Clay was arrested and charged with domestic assault. She was released on a $2,000 bond.
