Officers spoke with Mathis, who stated that a verbal altercation with Townsel had turned physical. Mathis claimed that while she slept, Townsel pushed her and woke her up, accusing her of sleeping with other men. Officers then spoke with Townsel, who stated they were arguing over Mathis sleeping with other men. Townsel also claimed that Mathis pushed him during this incident. Officers noticed that Townsel and Mathis had multiple domestic violence reports, which resulted in MathisĀ being arrestedĀ in 2023. Mathis was taken into custody on May 7th and was charged with domestic assault.

26-year-old Kenyetta Hayes committed first-degree murder at Filmore Avenue Park on May 6th. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a man who had been shot and declared him dead. Investigators recovered videos from businesses in the area that revealed Hayes running from the area of the shooting and released the footage to the media for tips, asking who it was.

On May 7th, the following day, Officers received a call from Hayes’s mother, Shante Jones, who stated she saw her daughter on the news as a person of interest in a homicide. Jones also told investigators that she would bring her daughter into the homicide office. Hayes states that she was on Lamar Avenue near the Marathon gas station when a man asked her for oral sex in exchange for 60 dollars. She advised officers she never planned on performing the act, but instead, she was going to “hit a lick,” meaning rob the man. When the two got to the park, she shot the man, took the sixty dollars, and fled on foot. Hayes also told officers she was “thirsty for money” and spent 47 dollars on two hot wing combos for her and her boyfriend. Hayes was taken into custody for first-degree murder.

Whitney Wallace sleeps on random porch, tells police she owns the property

28-year-old Whitney Wallace was seen trespassing at a property near Tennessee Street on May 2nd. When officers arrived on the scene, they were flagged down by Jim Brigance, a concerned neighbor, who stated that Wallace often stayed on the home’s porch. Brigance also told officers that he heard rocks being thrown at the windows of the home and that he noticed Wallace on the porch walking around. Officers spoke with Wallace, and she stated she owned the property. Officers took Wallace into custody for criminal trespassing.

Kayla Pittman caught with meth and fentanyl

34-year-old Kayla Pittman was caught with meth and fentanyl near Getwell Road on May 3rd. Officers were doing routine patrol when they observed a vehicle bearing a false Tennessee drive-out tag. Officers also noticed that the driver and passenger were not wearing seatbelts. The vehicle was pulled over, and Pittman was identified as the passenger. It was discovered that she had a warrant for a probation violation and was taken into custody.

Officers searched through Pittman’s purse and found two folded pieces of aluminum foil, one containing white crystal-like substances and the other brownish-white crystal-like substances. Pittman told officers that it was “ice’ and that she had forgotten about it. Both substances were tested, and one was matched as a meth and fentanyl mix. Pittman was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Andrea Grijalva caught with 3 kilos of cocaine & 156 fentanyl pills in her car on I-40

29-year-old Andrea Grijalva was caught with cocaine and fentanyl with her husband, Vasquez, near mile marker 25.8 on I-40 on May 3rd. Officers pulled over a vehicle driving slowly in the left lane under the “slow poke” law. When officers spoke to the vehicle’s driver, Vasquez, who stated they were traveling to North Carolina from California for his wife’s baby shower and staying for one day. Officers then spoke with Grijalva, and she claimed they were going to North Carolina to see her husband’s friends, staying for a few days, and flying back to California. Officers believed both to be involved in criminal activity and asked for consent to search the vehicle, which was granted. During the search, officers found a Gucci fanny pack containing three small containers with several blue pills. Officers also found two lunch boxes with three vacuum-sealed bricks inside the trunk. The 3 kilos tested positive for cocaine, and the pills, totaling 156 them, tested positive for fentanyl. Andrea Grijalva was taken into custody and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

26-year-old Keneisha Craig was involved in a domestic altercation with her roommate, Lanna Butler, at their Westline Drive Apartment residence on May 5th. When officers arrived, they spoke with Craig, who stated that she and her roommate had argued about a joke made in front of their friends. Officers then spoke with Butler, who said she and Craig were arguing about perfume, but it escalated when Craig threw water on her. Butler then claimed they both were face to face when Craig told her, “This the last time you gonna do me like this.” Craig then walked to her bedroom, returned with a handgun, and struck Butler in the face several times with it. Butler then claimed that she was able to exit the apartment and call for police.

The officers searched the apartment and discovered a Glock handgun along with ammunition. Officers then spoke with Craig, who stated that she did not hit Butler with her gun but with her fist instead because Butler was trying to enter through a window. Craig also admitted to officers that she threw water in Butler’s face. Officers noticed the knots on Butler’s face and asked Craig about them. Craig claimed Butler had “put them there herself like in the movies.” Craig was taken into custody for Domestic assault and aggravated assault.

On May 5th, 22-year-old Ricki Johnson was involved in a domestic altercation with her boyfriend, Jeremy Mooney, at a Beacon Park residence. When officers arrived on the scene, they spoke with Mooney, who stated that Johnson had got mad at him and pushed him over a table. Officers noticed Johnson was not on the scene, they also noticed Mooney’s injured right wrist as well. Mooney refused to talk to officers at the time. Officers then took a photo of Mooney’s injuries. Johnson was taken into custody for domestic assault later that day.

Crystal Brittenum caught driving stolen Nissan Rogue she rented from Enterprise

On May 5th, 36-year-old Crystal Brittenum was caught stealing a rental vehicle near Elvis Presley Boulevard. When officers arrived, they located Brittenum walking away from a 2021 Nissan Rogue. The vehicle had been reported stolen from Enterprise car rental on April 12th. Jacob Gunter, an employee of Enterprise, contacted officers and stated that Brittenum rented the car on February 23rd and was supposed to return it on February 26th but had yet to return. The value of the vehicle was $20,300. Brittenum was taken into custody for theft.

Booster Jaqueshia Rubin caught stealing $596 worth of electronic door locks from Home Depot

On April 29th, 45-year-old Jaqueshia Rubin was caught stealing from Home Depot on Giacosa Place. When officers arrived, they spoke with Chris Anderson, who works in loss prevention. Anderson stated that on April 19th, a couple who entered together could be seen using plastic bags, placing electronic door locks into them, and walking out of the store. The stolen items were valued at $596. Officers observed video and photo evidence of the repeat shoplifters, and their investigation started. Officers identified the couple on April 29th as the shoplifters. Anderson also confirmed that they were the shoplifters when officers brought them back to the store. Rubin was taken into custody for theft on May 6th.
