Man punches and kicks woman for trying to leave; charged with assault

37-year-old Andrew Kimber was charged with domestic assault after being accused of punching and kicking his girlfriend for trying to pack up and leave.

On February 25th, Officer Carpenter responded to a simple assault call at Highland Hills Apartments on Fosterwood Drive. Contact was made with Andrew Kimber, who advised officers he and his girlfriend were in a verbal dispute. When officers entered the apartment they made contact with Marketia Shelton, who stated Andrew punched her in the back and kicked her many times. Officers noted Marketia had several scratches on her face and shoulders.

Marketia further explained Andrew grabbed her headphones and she was packing to leave and he continued to come after her. She said Andrew hit her, threw a bottle at her son, and kicked her repetitively while she was on the ground. Officers spoke with Marketia’s daughter Akeibah Kimball, who witnessed the incident and corroborated Marketia’s story.

Andrew Kimber was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault. He was later released on his own recognizance.
