Geriatric man tries to gain access to Public Storage and apartment with crowbar

62-year-old Joe Franklin was charged with criminal attempted burglary, possession of burglary tools, and criminal attempted aggravated burglary after using a crowbar to try and enter Public Storage and someone’s apartment without permission but ultimately failing to gain access.

On May 18th, around 3:30 am patrol officers responded to an attempted burglary at 354 Front Street Apt #1. Undercover Officer Jones was working nearby when he observed the defendant, Joe Franklin, using a crowbar to try and enter the Public Storage business located at 390 S Front Street.

He was unsuccessful then Jones watched Franklin try to break into Apartment 101 at 354 Front Street where he was unsuccessful yet again. Patrol officers made the scene and quickly placed Franklin into custody. When Franklin was transported to the Felony Response Bureau he refused to speak to investigators.

Joe Franklin was arrested and charged with criminal attempted burglary, possession of burglary tools, and criminal attempted aggravated burglary. His bond was set at $10,000.
