39-year-old Juan Elzondo was charged with domestic assault with bodily harm after his girlfriend reported that he slapped her twice while arguing about whether or not to use her check to buy materials for house repairs.

On May 7th, Officers Palmer and Duncan were dispatched to 5292 Norma Road in reference to a domestic disturbance. Contact was made with Maris Morales, who reported that she was involved in a verbal argument with boyfriend Juan Elzondo that turned physical when he slapped her in the face twice. She said Juan also picked up a fence post but he did not assault her with it.

Maris stated their argument was about using “her check” to get items needed to repair their residence, according to the affidavit. She said Juan then walked out with her check, she followed him to get it back, and he slapped her twice in the face. He then left heading northbound on Norma Road in his 1995 green Dodge Ram. Maris and Juan live together at the address, along with four daughters aged 10, 6, 6, and 4.

After filling out paperwork, advising Maris of services available, and while waiting for her to pack her things, Juan came back to the scene where officers identified him and placed him into custody.

Juan Elzondo was arrested and charged with domestic assault with bodily harm. He was later released on his own recognizance.
