Overprotective man assaults girlfriend when she tries to go outside

39-year-old Gary Todd was charged with domestic assault after he was involved in an argument with his girlfriend about going outside. When she attempted to do so, he grabbed her, pulled her hair, and threw her on the couch.

On May 14th, Officer Martinez was dispatched to 3800 Carnes Avenue around 6:30 a.m. Victim and girlfriend Kassy Cox claims to be assaulted by her partner Gary Todd. Cox said the altercation between the two began about her going outside. When attempting to leave the premises, Todd halted her by aggressively hugging her to prevent her from exiting the building.

Once back inside, Todd then slammed Cox onto their couch. Upon Cox’s second attempt to leave the residence, Todd grabbed her hair and pushed her back onto the couch where she remained constrained. Todd was placed into custody as the officers arrived. Despite being thrown about, Cox denied the opportunity of medical transport.

Gary Todd was arrested and charged with domestic assault with bodily harm. He was later released on his own recognizance.
