Teen caught running from stolen Lexus that crashed into a hydrant after doing “donuts” in intersection

18-year-old Brian Wright was charged with auto theft, theft of property, unlawful possession of a weapon, and evading arrest when officers caught him fleeing from a stolen Lexus that hit a fire hydrant after doing “donuts” in an intersection on a Monday morning.

On May 4th, Memphis Police officers were called to the 5400 block of Knight Arnold Road. According to the affidavit, Officer Mitchell noticed an older black Ford Mustang and a silver Lexus GX450 doing “donuts” in the Knight Arnold and Mendenhall Road intersection. The Lexus fishtailed toward the office and fled down Knight Arnold Road.

Five men abandoned the vehicle after colliding with a fire hydrant, Officer Mitchell noted two of them were wielding handguns. Officer Bradley found Brian Wright sweating and hiding behind a business. Authorities also found a Smith and Wesson MP Bodyguard on the ground both that weapon and the 2020 Lexus had been reported stolen.

Brian Wright was arrested and charged with auto theft over $60,000, theft of property, unlawful possession of a weapon, and evading arrest by foot pursuit. He was later released on his own recognizance.
