Man rapes and threatens to stab his child’s mother

42-year-old Timmie Cooperwood was charged with aggravated assault, domestic assault, reckless endangerment, vandalism, and rape after he hit the mother of his children in the head with a closed fist, rammed her vehicle into other vehicles, and threatened her with a knife. The victim later told police he also raped her.

On June 22nd, at 6:35 am Deputy Brooks spoke to the victim, Shandka Harvell, at her home (4645 Crestfield Road) about her children’s father and her ex-boyfriend, defendant, Timmie Cooperwood, assaulting her. When the deputy arrived Cooperwood was asleep in a reclining chair in the house. Her report stated that he walked to the house early that morning when she was sitting in her white 2005 Nissan Armada SUV. He entered the SUV and began threatening Harvell when she said that she no longer wanted to be with him.

That made him upset so he punched her in the face causing a small cut then he pulled out a hunting knife and threatened to stab her. They both exited the vehicle and began arguing on the front lawn, but Cooperwood hopped back into her SUV and put it in drive to ram the other vehicles in her driveway.

Continuing to ram them, he caused damage to each car and the garage door of the home. Afterward, he demanded that Harvell get into his car and come with him so that he could go get a beer. Her head was bleeding while she was riding around for more than an hour, per her report. She said that she waited to call 911 until he was asleep in the recliner where the deputy found him and removed the weapon before waking him up. The Deputy placed him into custody without an incident.

Cooperwood refused to speak to the deputies about the incident that occurred. Records showed that they had several domestic violence incidents in the past. Harvell refused any medical help or Family Safety Center but spoke to the investigators about how Cooperwood raped her in a recorded statement.

Timmie Cooperwood was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, domestic assault, vandalism, reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, and rape. His bond was set at $20,000.
