Two men found in stolen vehicle lead police on foot pursuit

22-year-olds Jabril McAlister and Demarco Clark were charged with evading arrest, theft, and illegal possession of a weapon after being found in a stolen vehicle and then attempting to escape police on foot.

On August 14th, Crump Station Task Force detectives noticed a stolen gray 2019 Ford Escape driving south on Cleveland Street from Madison Avenue. Plainclothes officers located and followed the vehicle to Prospect Street where Takedown Task Force officers were waiting to attempt contacting the driver. Jabril McAlister led Officers Gean and Martin on a brief foot pursuit before he was taken down. He was found to have the keys to the stolen vehicle in his front right pocket.

The passenger, Demarco Clark, also fled on foot and was found by Officers Moseley, Gallini, and Bond one street east at 1989 Benton Street hiding in a shed in the backyard. The vehicle, which was stolen from the Memphis Airport in December of 2019, valued at $18,000. The officers also found a Glock 23 sitting on the center console near the gear shift, which was reported stolen out of Southaven in September of 2016, valued at $350.

Jabril McAlister was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, evading arrest, and two counts of theft of property. He was later released on his own recognizance.

Demarco Clark was arrested and charged with felon in possession of a handgun, evading arrest, and theft of property. His bond was set at $3,000.
