62-year-old Derek Henderson was charged with domestic assault when he dragged his baby mama across a parking lot because she didn’t spend the $20 he gave her on beer.
On August 15th, Officers received a call to King of Discounts Mini-mart in Memphis, TN where officers witnessed Derek Henderson and Rachelle Wright skirmishing in the parking lot. Henderson stated he gave his baby mama $20 to go to the store a buy beer. When Henderson went to the store to see what was taking so long he discovered she did not have beer. Henderson demanded his money back, but Wright refused. Henderson proceeded to drag Wright across the parking lot.
Wright notifies surrounding bystanders of the situation and the fight is broken up. Officers observed scrapes and her arms, a dislocated finger, and bruising to her face. Wright was able to pop her own finger back into place. She refused to be transported to a safe place or seek medical treatment. Henderson was determined to be the primary aggressor and was taken into custody.
Derek Henderson was charged with domestic assault. His bond was set at $2,500.
