Woman lies to police about enlisting boyfriend to kill her mother

22-year-old Ashley Horton was charged with facilitation of aggravated assault and false reporting after she encouraged her boyfriend to assault her mom and then lied about the incident.

On August 13th, police received a call about an armed persons call at 1481 Oaklawn Street. Upon arrival, police found and took a statement from Loretta Horton, mother of Ashley Horton, and she told police that morning she and her daughter were having a strained argument about how Ashley was no longer allowed to live with her. Loretta said the fight ended and her daughter left, but ten minutes later she returned in her yellow Chevrolet Aveo with her boyfriend Jaylon Hatch. Hatch confronted Loretta about the fight and shortly afterward shot three times at her. Each missed, and Hatch got back into the car that Ashley was driving and fled.

A short time after Loretta gave her official statement to police, her daughter returned without Hatch and began to tell police a falsified story where she changed her boyfriend’s name and other details about what had happened. She soon professed that she was lying and was taken into custody.

Ashley Horton was arrested and charged with facilitation of aggravated assault and false reporting, and she was later released of her own recognizance.
