Business owner threatened at gunpoint by suspecting husband

45-year-old Darrin Mathews was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and vandalism after pointing a pistol at a business owner and defacing his car because he believed his wife was sleeping with him.

On September 17th, Memphis Police Officer Jarrett responded to a disturbance where Kimberly Griffin was involved in a dispute with her husband, Darrin Mathews, who believed his wife and the owner of the business located at 830 Herbert were having an affair.

Bobby Ellis, the owner, stated his wife is simply a customer of the business. Mathews still believed they have some sort of relationship when Griffin and Mathews enter the store. Ellis told police Mathews had pointed a gun at him and Griffin. Ellis also advised police Mathews had threatened to shoot them. Ellis proceeded to tell the officers he witnessed Mathews vandalize his Ford F250 before police arrived. Witness Kenneth Ellis corroborated Bobby’s story. On the other hand, Griffin did not cooperate with the police.

Darrin Mathews was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault and vandalism. His bond was set at $7,500.
