Man strangles wife in car while driving home

50-year-old Theta Fisher was charged with aggravated assault after he grabbed his wife by the neck and strangled her in the car while on their way home.

On September 4th, Memphis Police responded to an aggravated assault at McLemore and Greenwood. Sheritta Washington advised police that her husband Theta Fisher strangled her in the car while driving home. She advised police Fisher was driving and she was in the front passenger seat of the vehicle.

Washington told police that during an argument Fisher reached over, grabbed her by the neck, and began strangling her. She stated she did not have trouble breathing but did become disoriented. She was able to escape from the vehicle and go to a friend’s house. After the incident, Washington went home and requested officers be present while she moved out. Officers observed a scratch underneath her left eye and said she got it during the altercation that occurred earlier that day.

Theta Fisher was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. His bond was set at $45,000.
