27-year-old D’Adrius Winfield was charged with stalking and aggravated criminal trespass after breaking into his girlfriend’s apartment, and making repeated unwanted attempts to talk with her.
On September 8th, Memphis Police Officer Harvell arrived at 669 North Avant Lane in response to a domestic violence call. Upon the officer’s arrival, D’Adrius Winfield and Amberia Funzie established they are boyfriend and girlfriend who were in an argument. Funzie told police that she wanted Winfield to leave and that she had told him to do so in the past. When Winfield left the scene, Funzie seemed less afraid and spoke more openly with officers.
She reported that Winfield entered the apartment through the back window. At which point, Funzie found a knife to defend herself and told him to leave. Winfield stood outside until authorities arrived. Funzie told police that this was his second attempt to make contact with her that day. While officers were in the process of speaking with Funzie, and after he had been asked to leave multiple times, Winfield returned and asked her to marry him.
D’Adrius Winfield was arrested and charged with aggravated criminal trespass and stalking. His bond was set at $7,500.
