22-year-old Anthony Holmes was charged with possession of marijuana, oxycodone, drug paraphernalia, alprazolam, and a weapon after officers found drugs in his pockets and an unclaimed stolen gun inside of a vehicle that he was a passenger in.
On October 23rd, Memphis Police Officers Lemmon and Booker initiated a traffic stop at 2191 East Alcy Road when they witnessed a 2003 Ford Escape with a brake light out and the passenger not wearing a seatbelt. The officers reported that while they were approaching the vehicle, the passenger, Anothony Holmes, was moving as if trying to hide something. Holmes attempted to put the car in drive to leave, Officer Lemmon noticed. The driver, Mercedes Rone, kept the vehicle in park and unlocked the passenger side door for the officer, per report.
The officers noted a smell of marijuana coming from the inside of the car and proceeded to pat down both Holmes and Rone. Officers reported a scale, a bag of Grape Squeeze that contained marijuana, and a baggie that contained four green and three multicolored pills in Holmes’ pockets. Some pills were classified as oxycodone and alprazolam, but not all were identifiable. Rone admitted to having a plastic baggie that contained 3.7 grams of marijuana in her purse. Police also ran her license through their system and showed that her license was revoked from leaving the scene of an accident. Reportedly, she was issued a misdemeanor citation. Officers also discovered a grinder in the center console as well as a Springfield Armory XD .45 caliber pistol in a diaper bag on the backseat floorboard, which was reported stolen in 2018. Neither of them claimed ownership of the weapon.
Anthony Holmes was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, oxycodone, drug paraphernalia, alprazolam with intent, possession of a weapon, and a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was released on a $2,500 bond.
