Man strangles girlfriend; she stabs him in the chest with knife to escape

51-year-old Michael Williams was charged with aggravated assault after he bashed his wife’s head into a wall and strangled her with one hand.

On October 28th, Memphis Police officers responded to an aggravated assault call at the residence of 3713 Robin Park Circle. Upon arrival, Tasha Williams advised she was arguing with her husband, Michael Williams when he attacked her.

Tasha stated Michael slammed her head against the wall and began to strangle her with his right hand. She reported, while he was strangling her, she was able to grab a knife and break his grip by stabbing him in the chest. As soon as she was free, she fled down the street and flagged down officers. The officers noted swelling and bruising on the back of Tasha’s head.

Michael Williams was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $5,100 bond.
