57-year-old Jamil Obeid was charged with domestic assault after he threw a coffee mug at his wife over an argument about politics.
On November 9th, Memphis Police Officer Hickman was dispatched to 1378 Wrenwood Street in regards to a simple assault call. According to the affidavit, contact was made with Lillian Obeid who stated that her husband, Jamil Obeid, threw a coffee mug that struck her calf and caused her to bleed.
Lillian advised that Jamil said he was going to end it all today so she would not call the police on him anymore. Jamil stated that he got so angry with his wife over politics that he threw the mug at the floor but it bounced and struck her leg. He was taken into custody without incident.
Jamil Obeid was arrested and charged with domestic assault. He was released on his own recognizance.
