26-year-old Diego Ayestas was charged with aggravated assault after reportedly stabbing his wife twice, once in the left leg and once in the upper left breast.
On November 25th, Memphis Police Officers responded to an aggravated assault call at 1336 Weymouth Drive. Per the affidavit, Delsy Reyes and her husband, Diego Ayestas, got into a verbal dispute that turned into a physical altercation. She was reportedly stabbed in the right leg and the upper left breast. When officers arrived, they found her hiding in the bathroom.
Delsy told police that Diego stabbed her because he is crazy. She was taken to Regional One in non-critical condition. Diego was taken into custody for further questions, and he was found to be under the influence of intoxicants.
Diego Ayestas was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
