28-year-old Mark Cody was charged with domestic assault after he punched his girlfriend in her face and stomach with a pipe in his hand during an argument she claimed was about her leaving.

On November 27th, Memphis Police Officers Briggs and Vail arrived at the residence of 1503 South Willette Street in response to a domestic violence call. Upon arrival, Valysseia Harper reported that her boyfriend, Mark Cody, got out of the car and grabbed a pipe from a trash can when she told him she was leaving.

Per the report, Cody grabbed her hoodie through the driver’s window and punched her face and stomach several times with the pipe in his hand. When he kept punching her, she put the car in drive, causing him to fall to the ground, and then she went to her mother’s house to call the police.

Cody stated they got into an argument about the phone bill, and she drove away after she took his phone. He said after she drove past the house multiple times, he left to go to the store in the area of Gill Avenue and Wilson Street. He claimed that Harper drove into the grass and hit him with the car. However, Officers Moore and Culver advised they did not find any tire marks in the yard. Cody was deemed to be the primary aggressor.

Mark Cody was arrested and charged with domestic assault. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $6,000 bond.
