32-year-old Kala Clayborn was charged with DUI and failure to exercise due care after she was found passed out at the wheel of her running vehicle and performed terribly on all sobriety tests given by deputies.
On November 21st, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies Mitchell and Marshall responded to a DUI crash at the residence of 4382 Old Forest Road. It was reported that the driver, Kala Clayborn, hit a mailbox, and before deputies arrived, SCF Unit #63 was on the scene. They advised that Kala was asleep at the wheel of her Infiniti QX80 while it was in drive.
She appeared confused and unaware of what was happening when they tried waking her, and she refused any medical attention. Upon the arrival of the deputies, they stated Kala’s eyes were bloodshot, her speech was slurred, and she had a strong smell of alcohol emitting from her person. According to the affidavit, Kala performed poorly on both sobriety tests Deputy Marshall and Deputy Pearce conducted.
Kala Clayborn was arrested and charged with DUI and failure to exercise due care. She was released on her own recognizance.
