31-year-old man threatens to ‘burn the house down’ with his mom inside, when asked to complete his chores

30-year-old Mario Smith was charged with domestic assault after getting upset about having to do chores and threatened to shoot his mother’s house up and burn it down with her inside.

On March 11th, Officers Hennessy and Sumner responded to a call in reference to an assault on Hardin Avenue. Carolyn Crutchfield told officers that she and her son Mario Smith were in a verbal argument about him not completing his chores. She said Mario stated he was going to leave and come back with a gun to shoot the house up and burn the house down with her inside.

Mario’s brother, Kenneth James, heard the threats being made and demanded that he stop immediately. Kenneth said Mario then threw a metal chair and hit him. Officers noted they didn’t see any injuries and both Carolyn and Kenneth completed a hold harmless waiver. Mario was placed into custody without incident.

Mario Smith was arrested and charged with domestic assault. His bond was set at $5,000.
