On February 29th, several officers were patrolling in the high drug-trafficking area of Chelsea Avenue and May Street. Officer Fleener pulled into the Chelsea Express convenience store and observed a black male wearing a tie-dye hoodie reach into the passenger side of a parked vehicle acting as if he either dropped something off or picked something up from a person in that vehicle. As the officer attempted to make contact with the man, later identified as Jeremiah Gray, he started walking away. Officer Wright pulled into the parking lot in front of Jeremiah, he then turned around and started running. Both officers witnessed Jeremiah drop a large bag that appeared to contain marijuana. A third officer, Officer Henderson, joined in the chase and also witnessed the dropped bag. After a short chase, Jeremiah was apprehended and taken into custody. Officers were unable to locate the bag that had been dropped during the chase.
