Man charged with assaulting boyfriend with guitar during argument

35-year-old Paul Hall was charged with aggravated assault, felony domestic violence, and vandalism after a night of alcohol consumption and jealousy turned into knife threats and guitar beatings.

On March 11th, Deputy Overly investigated an assault call at 1071 Red Fern Circle East. There, victim Aerin Monasterio stated his boyfriend Paul Hall “came at him in a threatening manner” when he was made suspicious of Aerin’s communications with some new friends. According to the affidavit, Aerin admitted to grabbing a knife from the kitchen in an attempt to distance himself from Paul.

Paul then went upstairs and was making “loud banging noises”. Despite the already hostile environment, Aerin entered the room and was accosted with a $250 First Act Guitar, which was ruined during the episode. Both admitted they had been drinking. The Shelby County Fire Department treated Aerin for abrasions and swelling on his left arm. Paul declined making a statement and Aerin submitted a hold harmless waiver.

Paul hall was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, domestic violence, and vandalism. He was later released on his own recognizance.
