Man holds knife to roommate’s neck over cell phone

28-year-old Travis Fortney was charged for aggravated assault after putting a knife to his roommate’s neck because he didn’t want to give him back his cell phone.

On February 26th, officers with Memphis Police responded to a call requesting assistance at the Valero gas station on South Highland Street. Timothy Robison advised police that he asked Travis Fortney, his roommate, to give back his cell phone because he did not have permission to use it. Timothy then stated Travis got very angry, grabbed him from behind, and put a knife to his neck saying “I will kill you”!

Travis said he put his hand up and the knife sliced his right pinky finger that caused a laceration. According to the affadavit, Memphis Fire Department provided medical treatment for Timothy’s injury. Timothy then went down to the Domestic Violence Bureau, identified Travis as the one who attacked him, and gave a written statement.

Travis Fortney was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault. His bond was set at $7,500.
