Man charged with theft after looting good Samaritan

28-year-old Robert Tubbs was charged with theft of property when a good Samaritan gave him $20 and allowed him to use his phone to call a ride. Tubbs thanked him by fleeing with the $1,200 iPhone.

On April 2nd, officers were called to 804 Maria Street in regard to a theft of a cell phone. According to the affidavit, Lee Blair told officers he was strolling to a friend’s domicile when Robert Tubbs approached him. After Mr. Blair gave Tubbs $20 for a ride and allowed him to use his phone to call someone, Tubbs took off running.

Once Mr. Blair arrived at his destination he told the resident who was acquainted with Tubbs and identified him on Facebook. The iPhone 11 was determined to be worth $1,200. On April 4th, Robert Tubbs was identified from a photo line-up.

On April 27th, Robert Tubbs was arrested and charged with theft of property. His bond was set at $1,000.
