Memphis man barricades himself after threatening to cut his ex’s face off with a knife

35-year-old Drew McCarter was charged with domestic assault and false imprisonment after hitting his ex-girlfriend in the head when she refused to get back with him, locking her in her room and threatening to “cut her face off with a knife” if she left.

On May 15th, Officers Drew and Kumpe responded to an aggravated assault call at 1934 Foster Avenue and made contact with the victim, Jasmine Pegues, and her two children out front of the residence. She told police that her ex-boyfriend, the defendant, Drew McCarter, assaulted her inside their home after they argued about her not wanting to be with him anymore. He then hit her in the head several times with his fist and then sat in the doorway of her bedroom not letting her leave, she stated.

McCarter said that he would “cut her face off with a knife” if she tried leaving, per report. Pegues said that McCarter was never armed with a knife during the incident and she contacted police through a tablet that was in her bedroom. McCarter barricaded himself in the house and refused to obey orders from the police when they asked him to leave. Officers entered the house after a consent form was signed by Pegues and they found him in the attic.

Drew McCarter was arrested and charged with domestic assault and false imprisonment. His bond was set at $15,000.
