Memphis man charged for pushing wife, firing several shots in home during argument

34-year-old Charles Hodge was charged with aggravated assault and seven counts of reckless endangerment after he pushed his wife against a table and held a chair over his head during an argument before firing shots throughout their home.

On April 28th, officers were dispatched in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, Carmen Yelvington reported that she was involved in an argument with her husband Charles Hodge. During the argument, Charles pushed her against a table and held a chair up as if he was going to hit her with it. He also fired several rounds in their house.

Carmen said she tried reaching into a kitchen drawer for a weapon and Charles darted into their bedroom and closed the door. He then came out with the gun they keep hidden under the bed, and fired a shot in the hallway ceiling and two more into the floor. During this time, Carmen said she was trying to get her children out of the home.

According to the affidavit, Charles and Carmen’s 10-month old daughter was directly upstairs in a nursery and there were two adults and four other children downstairs.

Charles Hodge was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and seven counts of reckless endangerment. His bond was set at $100,000.
