Memphis man snatches ex-boyfriend’s beer, says he’s going to “beat his a–“

35-year-old Toronzo Carruthers was charged with domestic assault with bodily harm after he walked up to his ex-boyfriend, stole his beer, then told him he was going to “beat his a–“, per report.

On April 28th, officers were dispatched to a call in reference to an assault at 1081 Court Avenue. Upon arrival, Antonio Harris reported that around 6:00 pm that day, he was on the sidewalk and Toronzo Carruthers walked up to him and stole his beer. Antonio said that as Toronzo was walking away, he said he was going to “beat his ass”, per the report.

Antonio then advised officers that he and Toronzo were in a prior intimate relationship and could be found in Apartment 426 B. Officers then placed Toronzo into custody and Antonio signed a DV Hold Harmless agreement.

Toronzo Carruthers was arrested and charged with domestic assault. He was later released on his own recognizance.
