61-year-old Michael Spencer was charged with disorderly conduct and domestic assault after threatening to kill his cousin and burn her house down. Spencer’s claims continued after law enforcement arrived on the scene and later told the woman that she will “get what’s coming to her.”
On June 6th, Officers Thomas and Douglas were dispatched to 2368 Brooklyn Ave in regards to a call of domestic violence. Upon arrival, officers noted a man standing on a woman’s porch. While at the scene, the man, later identified as Michael Spencer, threatened to burn the woman’s house down and that “she will get what’s coming to her.”
Officers proceeded to make contact with Bernice Swanigan, who informed officers that Spencer, her cousin, was on her front porch when she arrived home. According to the affidavit, Spencer began to yell at Swanigan, using profane language and threatening to kill her and burn her house down.
After being verbally threatened, Swanigan proceeded to call police, believing Spencer’s threats to be true and being in fear for her life. After additional threats to harm Swanigan and her residence from the street, Spencer was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and domestic assault.
Michael Spencer was arrested and charged with domestic assault and disorderly conduct. His bond was set at $1,000.
