41-year-old Dexter Woodland was charged with aggravated and domestic assault after threatening to shoot his girlfriend during a dispute and then pulled off her wig before she was able to escape the premises.
On July 3rd, Officers Fleites and Jarratt were dispatched to 9260 Grove Manor Dr in regards to a report of aggravated assault. Upon arrival, law enforcement made contact with Shawanda Wells, who informed officers that she had been involved in a verbal altercation with boyfriend Dexter Woodland. According to the affidavit, Woodland retrieved and pointed a handgun at the woman during the argument, threatening to shoot the woman while in possession of the weapon.
In addition, Woodland reportedly ripped off Wells’ wig before she was able to vacate the residence. Wells then contacted law enforcement, who arrived at the scene shortly thereafter. Woodland was not initially at the scene of the incident, but would later return in a Buick Lucerne. Following the man’s consent, a search was conducted on Woodland’s vehicle. A search of the sedan yielded no weapons. Sergeant Parker proceeded to obtain a search warrant for the premises, finding evidence that supported Wells’ statement.
Dexter Woodland was arrested and charged with domestic and aggravated assault. His bond was set at $15,000.
