Man steals $550 worth of tools from neighbor late at night; jailed on $50,000 bond

55-year-old Gerald Boyland was arrested for aggravated burglary and theft of property after kicking in neighbor’s back door and stealing various tools late at night, per report.

On July 15th Mr. Tabb Williams filed a statement with police following a break-in at his home on 757 North Holmes Street which occurred on July 2nd around midnight. Williams stated that a man kicked in his back door, and then stole around $550 worth of tools, including a red and beige tile saw. Terry Brooks came forward and advised officers that he had attempted to file a report on the date of the burglary, but wasn’t able to do so at the time.

Mr. Brooks recounted to officers, spotting Boyland walk through the front yard and entering the home, and that Boyland lived in the neighborhood. He later saw Boyland heaving the red and beige saw over the fence. Officers searched the surrounding area and located Boyland outside of 3261 Coleman Avenue. Mr. Brooks later met with officers at Tillman Station for an interview, during which he picked Boyland from a photographic line up with 6 images.

Gerald Boyland was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary and theft of property of $1,000 or less. His bond was set at $50,000.
