46-year-old Vernie Fifer was charged with aggravated statutory rape, possession of marijuana, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor when the victim’s mother reported to police that he was having sexual relations with and providing alcohol and marijuana to her 15-year-old daughter.
On July 2nd, Memphis Police Department Officers were called to Home 1 Extended Stay Hotel located at 4300 American Way by Antoinette Williams, mother of the victim of statutory rape. She said that her daughter is fifteen years old and she has been having sexual relations with the defendant, Vernie Fifer.
The report said that Williams also stated that Fifer was giving the victim marijuana and alcohol. There was a witness who took a video on her cell phone of the incident. When Fifer was taken into custody, officers found 2.9 grams of marijuana on his person.
Vernie Fifer was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, possession of marijuana, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. His bond was set at $7,500.
