Memphis man punches and strangles his ex-girlfriend; tells police “nothing happened”

49-year-old Anthony Pickett was charged with domestic assault after he strangled his ex-girlfriend, pushed her to the ground, and punched her in the face.

On August 1st, Officer D’Agostaro was dispatched to a simple assault at 347 Gaston Ave. Upon arrival, contact was made with Linda Howell. She stated that she and Anthony Pickett her ex-boyfriend were involved in a verbal dispute that turned physical when he strangled her, pushed her down to the ground, then punched her twice in the face.

Howell did not lose consciousness at any point but did sustain a small laceration on the center of her forehead, bruising on the left side of her forehead, and a small scratch on the right side of her neck. Howell refused medical treatment on the scene. Pickett stated that no physical altercation took place. He was then placed into custody and transported to jail. Howell and Pickett were previously involved in a sexual relationship and had lived together.

Anthony Pickett was arrested and charged with domestic assault. His bond was set at $1,000.
