During the chase, he dropped the knife but hit her in the face causing her face to smash against a brick wall. The officers arrived on the scene and attempted to detain Thomas, who resisted arrest until being taken to the ground and subdued. He later told authorities that he did not have the knife, claiming Williams was the person wielding it and that he only defended himself by swinging a chair at her.

Royriques Thomas was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $35,000 bond.
