Family Dollar manager claims man stuffed $45 worth of socks in pants

32-year-old Kenyatta Allen was charged with theft of merchandise after stuffing socks in his pants when five officers responded to a Family Dollar manager flagging them down.

On September 26th, Shelby County Sherrif’s Officers Mays, Ross, Williams, Tudon, and Brooks responded to a shoplifting call after being flagged down by the manager of a Family Dollar, at 2920 Lamar Ave.

As officers were walking through the business, Officer Ross spotted Allen stuffing socks in his pants. The officers retrieved the socks and returned them to the store manager, Jeanie Steward. Steward claims the property was valued at $45 dollars.

Kenyatta Allen was arrested and charged with theft of merchandise, less than $1,000. He was released on his own recognizance.
