Man charged with domestic assault after beating girlfriend and throwing her out of his house

38-year-old Clint Murphy was charged with domestic assault after attacking his girlfriend during an argument because he accused her of cheating on him.

On September 2nd, Memphis Police Officers Smith and Juarez were dispatched to Freeway Express at 1058 South Parkway East, regarding a domestic situation that occurred at 1304 Cummings Street. Tara Lawson explained she has been living off and on with her boyfriend, Clint Murphy, at his residence 1304 Cummings Street for the past eight months. Murphy got angry with her and accused her of cheating on him. He then demanded she leave his house, As Lawson began gathering her belongings, she asked him to take out the window unit that she purchased.

Murphy got angry because he didn’t want her to take the window unit. Murphy then began to punch Lawson repeatedly in the face, causing her to lose hearing. He then continued to punch her all over her body. He took her phone and physically threw her out of the residence. In socks with no shoes, Lawson ran to the Freeway gas station where a customer offered her a phone to call the police. Memphis Fire department (MFD) showed up at the gas station and treated her. As the officer’s made contact with her she had a bloody abrasion on the right side of her neck, swelling/bruising over her body.

Clint Murphy was arrested and charged with domestic assault. His bond was set at $3,500.
