19-year-old Rashaan Ross was charged with criminal attempt of aggravated robbery, carjacking, employment of a firearm, and evading arrest when he carjacked a man at gunpoint and then fled on foot when officers attempted to stop him.
On September 12th, Terrell Richmond was sitting in his 2015 Toyota Corolla on the lot of 2237 Airways Boulevard when he was approached by a male armed with a handgun. The man, Rashaan Ross, jammed the gun into Terrell’s throat and demanded his money. Terrell told him that he did not have any money at which point Rashaan ordered him out of the vehicle. Terrell complied and the man fled the scene in the Corolla. Two hours later, Terrell observed his Corolla at the Shell gas station located at 2400 Airways Boulevard.
He recognized the man who was pumping gas into the vehicle as that one who had carjacked him. Terrell notified Memphis Police and officers were dispatched. Rashaan abandoned the vehicle and walked away prior to the officers arriving. They located Rashaan walking a short distance from the vehicle and when they attempted to stop him he fled on foot. Officers were able to apprehend him and Terrell was shown a photo lineup where he positively identified Rashaan as the person who carjacked him.
Rashaan Ross was arrested and charged with criminal attempt of aggravated robbery, carjacking, employment of a firearm, and evading arrest. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
