Teen stopped for speeding and a missing tail light caught with drugs and firearms

19-year-old Anthony Andrews was arrested and charged with theft of property, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of marijuana, lights on motor vehicle, and driving on a suspended license after he was pulled over for speeding and missing a tail light.

On September 1st, Officer Lampley responded to a drug/narcotics violation at Lamar Avenue and American Way Road. While on patrol in the area, the officer observed a red four-door sedan traveling at a high rate of speed missing the driver’s side rear taillight. A traffic stop was conducted and upon approaching the vehicle, the officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana. The driver, Anthony Andrews, showed to have a suspended driver license and two active warrants from Bartlett.

Anthony was placed under arrest and the passenger, Jeremiah Smith, was detained for officer safety. While inventorying the vehicle for towing, officers located a black book bag in the truck. Inside the bookbag officers located 8.1 grams marijuana, two firearms, and a cigar loaded with marijuana. The first firearm was a Glock 43x and the second firearm was a Springfield Armory XDS that showed to be stolen from Horn Lake, MS on June 6th. Anthony advised the backpack belonged to Jeremiah, but Jeremiah advised he didn’t know anything about the backpack.

Anthony Andrews was arrested and charged with theft of property, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of marijuana, lights on motor vehicle, and driving on a suspended license. His bond was set at $500.
