Woman found in possession of meth and an unknown substance at Candle Wood Suites

28-year-old Emily Elkins was charged with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia when she was found in an illegally parked vehicle and admitted to possessing two syringes, a tourniquet, and less than a gram of Fentanyl.

On September 9th, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies Parker, Amuza, Munn, and Campbell were dispatched to a narcotics violation at 1776 Whitten Road. While conducting a routine patrol, deputies noticed a white pickup truck illegally parked in the parking lot of the Candle Wood Suites Hotel. The deputies made contact with Emily Elkins who was sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle. Jonathon Cole was standing between two other vehicles fumbling in his pockets, saw deputies exit their vehicles, and fled into the hotel.

Elkins told the deputies she had two syringes, a tourniquet, and less than a gram of Fentanyl wrapped inside two small folded pieces of papers located in a silver wallet. They located all of the items inside of her silver purse. Elkins also said that the Ford Ranger was her vehicle and that she bought the drugs from Cole on September 8th. Deputies were able to make contact with him and he claimed that Emily did not purchase any drugs from him. One substance that was inside of one of the pieces of paper tested positive for methamphetamine weighing at 0.40 grams and the substance in the other piece of paper was tested to be unknown and weighed 0.07 grams.

Emily Elkins was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is currently jailed in lieu of a $20,000 bond.
