33-year-old Tanieka Ray was charged with five counts of aggravated assault when she fired a handgun three times at her neighbor over a dispute about her brother.
On September 5th, Shelby County Police Officers Smith and Williams responded to a disturbance at 802 East Davant Avenue. Upon arrival, Sylvester Morris advised that he was having a cookout when Tanieka Ray came over and started an argument in regards to something that happened with her brother. Morris told Ray that he did not want to hear about it and told her to leave his property.
Ray then went across the street to her house and came back with a handgun and fired three times at Morris while his wife Dorothy Morris, son Robert Morris, daughter-in-law Tamisha Batten, and Delvin Thomas were standing by the garage nearby. A warrant was executed and a black and silver handgun was recovered.
Tanieka Ray was arrested and charged with five counts of aggravated assault. Her bond was set at $75,000.
