“Do it” says woman to boyfriend who threatened to hit her over Facebook post; strikes him instead

21-year-old T’Kia Payton was charged with domestic violence after she reportedly got in her boyfriend’s face and punched him during a disagreement about a Facebook post.

On October 12, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputy Phillips responded to a report of simple assault at the residence of 4835 Southern Hills Drive. Upon arrival, Deputy Phillips made contact with T’Kia Payton who reported she and her boyfriend, Romeo Washington, were in an argument due to something that was posted on Facebook.

She stated that it began as a verbal disagreement, but Romeo continuously said he was going to hit her. T’Kia ran up to Romeo and stated “do it” repeatedly. Romeo told officers he pushed her in an attempt to get her out of his face, but she persisted. She stated that she punched him repeatedly in an attempt to get him to stop strangling her.

T’Kia had noticeable scratches on the left side of her neck and a knot behind her ear and Romeo had scratches on the right side of his face. A neighbor, Khyi-lond Ladd, claimed he witnessed Romeo strike T’Kia.

T Kia Payton was arrested and charged with domestic assault causing bodily harm. She was released on a $2,000 bond.
