21-year-old Charles Johnson was charged with violating bail conditions and assault after he shoves his girlfriend into his car, breaking one of his bail conditions that he received from assaulting her previously.
On October 24th, Memphis Police officers responded to a call at the intersection of I-40 and Whitten Road. When they arrived on the scene, they came into contact with Zachary Corley. He stated Charles Johnson and Rachel Bourland picked him up from his girlfriend’s residence in a black Honda Civic. While Charles was arguing with Rachel in the car, he began speeding in an unstable manner. Rachel and Zachary asked him to stop the vehicle and let them out, but Charles continued to drive until Zachary threatened to call the police.
Charles suddenly stopped the Civic on I-40 near Whitten Road and Sycamore View. He refused to unlock the doors so Zachary and Rachel climbed out of the passenger window. As he was fleeing towards Sycamore View, he saw Charles grab Rachel by her neck and placed her into a headlock. He pulled her and pushed her into the driver’s seat of his vehicle. Charles then got into the passenger seat and they both drove away.
Officers located the vehicle on 4760 Showcase Boulevard in a parking lot at Fairfield Inn Suites. Charles and his girlfriend Rachel were inside of the vehicle asleep. Rachel stated to officers that he did grab her by the neck and push her into the car on I-40. Charles was taken into custody and was later found to have been previously arrested for domestic violence and his bail conditions required him to not have any contact with Rachel.
Charles Johnson was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and violating bail conditions. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $20,000 bond.
What’s amazing to me is you posted this story while my son Charles Johnson was LITERALLY ON LIFE SUPPORT AND DIED 4 days later after he was found DEAD IN HIS JAIL CELL IN 201 poplar! HE HAD BEEN BEATEN by the guards AND HIS FAMILY WAS NOT NOTIFIED HE WAS ON LIFE SUPPORT FOR 2 days and lied to the entire time!! My 21 year old son was killed while in custody but that doesn’t make the news, instead you are slandering his name literally WHILE HE WAS FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE!!! Shame on you!!! SHAME ON ALL OF YOU!!!!
