49-year-old Darrell Lee was charged with domestic assault after he attacked his girlfriend for hanging out with her ex-girlfriend and threatened to kill her if the police showed up, per report.
On November 13th, Memphis Police Officers Jenkins and Guyton arrived at the residence of Darrell Lee, located at 3898 Votive Drive, in response to a domestic violence call. According to the report, Evelyn Shaw advised that her fiance, Darrell Lee, got upset with her because she was with her ex-girlfriend and a friend.
Evelyn advised that after he punched, scratched, and slapped her, he proceeded to drag her by her neck. She reported that he was high on cocaine the entire night and refused to leave unless she gave him money. She also stated that he threatened to kill her if they showed up. Officers noted scratches on Evelyn’s cheek and when they arrived Darrell was yelling but no threats were made.
Darrell claimed a verbal disagreement occurred but advised that neither one of them was assaulted. He said Evelyn grabbed him like she wanted him to stay and he did not feel attacked. However, he later changed his statement, insisting he was assaulted.
Darrell Lee was charged with domestic assault. He was released on a $5,000 bond.
