26-year-old Breanna Dillard was charged with domestic assault after she showed up at her ex-lover’s apartment in the middle of the night, asked him to let her stay the night, and then threatened him with a shovel.
On November 16th, Memphis Police Officers Scott and Tutera arrived at the residence of Joseph Jones located at 3515 South Mendenhall Road in response to a domestic violence call. Per the report, Joseph advised that Breanna Dillard came to his house at two in the morning and asked if she could stay over.
He informed the police that he was trying to be a good friend by letting her stay and that he had a sexual relationship with her seven to eight months prior. He reported that when she was inside the residence, she became angry and threatened him with a shovel. He stated that she grabbed the shovel from the pantry that divided his apartment and his neighbor’s apartment and broke it during their argument.
According to the affidavit, she began beating his neighbor’s door with the shovel and turned to Joseph, saying “I’m going to hit you in the head with this shovel.” He stated that he was frightened and called the police. His neighbor, Gloria, confirmed that Breanna threatened Joseph with the shovel and advised that they were arguing for hours before the police arrived.
