39-year-old Thigpen Verdelski was charged with domestic assault after he put his hands around his girlfriend’s neck, leaving red marks, though she said that she did not feel strangled.
On October 25th, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies Russell, NuTall, and Harris arrived at the residence of 8131 Waterford Circle in response to a domestic violence call. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with Chassity Thomas and Thigpen Verdelski. Chassity stated she and Thigpen were arguing over infidelity when she asked him to leave their apartment. She informed deputies that he refused and began throwing her clothes down the stairs near the door.
Chassity advised that Thigpen tried to push her out of the apartment but she ignored him and began throwing his clothes down the stairs as well. She reported she ran upstairs and called Thigpen a “hoe”, to which he responded by putting his hands on her neck while she was against the wall. She said she did not feel like he was strangling her but deputies witnessed redness around Chassity’s neck. The deputies noted that they are both on the lease so no one is allowed to remove the other. Thigpen admitted to the argument becoming physical however, he refused to elaborate on further details of the altercation and deputies reported no injuries on him.
Thigpen Verdelski was arrested and charged with domestic assault. He was later released on his own recognizance.
