34-year-old Phillip Pittman was charged with aggravated assault and violating a protection order after he strangled his ex-girlfriend and threatened her at gunpoint.
On November 15th, Memphis Police Officer Joyner arrived at 3184 Madewell Street in response to a domestic violence call. Upon arrival, Chawonna Jefferson advised she and her ex-boyfriend got into an argument.
She reported during the argument that Pittman pulled out a handgun and threatened her. She stated he also put her in a chokehold and strangled her. Further investigation revealed Pittman had active bail conditions from a prior domestic violence incident.
Phillip Pittman was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and violation of a protection order. He was released on a $50,000 bond.
